Angel Numbers: What Do They Mean?

One of my readers recently asked, "How do you feel about angel numbers? I see them all the time, but every website gives me a different meaning. How am I supposed to know what's true?"

I absolutely love this question because numbers have played an important role in my own spiritual journey for many years.

Long before I ever called myself a medium or began teaching spirituality, numbers seemed to follow me around. As someone who spent nearly thirty years in the corporate world, my brain naturally likes patterns and structure. Numbers made sense to me. They felt reliable.

Here's something funny...

Until around 2015, I couldn't stand the numbers 1, 5, or 7. I preferred even numbers and genuinely disliked seeing odd ones. Looking back now, I've noticed something interesting. Quite often, the things we resist the most end up becoming the very medicine our soul needs. They have a way of pointing us toward something we haven't learned yet or gently nudging us back onto our path.

Today it's a very different story.

I see 11:11, 1:11, and repeating numbers almost every single day. Sometimes they're on the clock. Sometimes they're on a receipt, a license plate, a contract number, or even the gas pump while I'm filling my car.

When I notice them, I simply smile and say,

"Thanks, guys."

To me, those numbers are my Spirit Guides reminding me they're nearby.

Now...

Does that mean 1111 always means the same thing?

Absolutely not.

This is where I think people get themselves into trouble.

The internet is full of websites claiming that every repeating number has one universal meaning. One site says 444 means protection. Another says it means your manifestation is coming. Another says your Twin Flame is about to text you. Before long you've opened twelve tabs and you're more confused than when you started.

Personally...

I don't think Spirit works that way.

Spirit communicates with you using your language.

That's why I encourage people to stop memorizing lists and start paying attention to themselves instead.

When you notice repeating numbers, pause for just a moment and ask yourself:

  • What was I thinking about?

  • What decision was I making?

  • What conversation was I having?

  • What emotion was I feeling?

Those questions will usually teach you far more than a website ever will.

I'll give you a personal example.

Every single time my husband and I have purchased a house together, I've paid attention to the contract number. If there wasn't a 9 somewhere in that number, I knew it wasn't our house.

Yes...

I'm completely serious.

Has that become a little ritual of mine?

Absolutely.

Does that mean the number 9 has to mean the same thing for you?

Not at all.

That's the beauty of building your own relationship with Spirit.

Your symbols become personal.

Your language becomes personal.

Your relationship becomes personal.

That doesn't mean universal symbolism doesn't exist. Some numbers have carried spiritual meaning across cultures for thousands of years. Learning those traditional meanings can be incredibly helpful.

But don't let someone else's interpretation become more important than your own experience.

One of the greatest gifts you can give yourself is permission to build your own spiritual dictionary.

That's exactly why I created my Angel Number Cheat Sheet. It's designed to give you a solid foundation for understanding single numbers, master numbers, and how to begin interpreting larger number patterns without needing to Google every repeating number you see.

Use it as a starting point.

Then let your own relationship with Spirit do the rest.

Because eventually, the question won't be,

"What does 1111 mean?"

The question will become,

"What does 1111 mean to me?"

And that's where the real conversation with Spirit begins.

Auntie Shelley
If I Can Learn This, So Can You.

For nearly thirty years, I lived in a world where logic ruled everything. My career in software and publishing trained my brain to solve problems, look for patterns, and make sure two plus two always equaled four.

Then Spirit showed up... and nothing fit into that equation anymore.

I wasn't born talking to dead people, and I certainly wasn't the kid who always knew I was psychic. If you'd told my younger self I'd one day become a professional medium, spiritual teacher, and ordained minister, I would have laughed in your face.

Instead, I questioned everything.

I second-guessed every experience. I wanted proof. I wanted logic. I wanted someone to explain why I was sensing things I couldn't explain.

Sound familiar?

That's exactly why I teach the way I do today.

I don't believe intuition belongs to a chosen few, and I certainly don't believe Spirit wants you dependent on someone else to tell you what your own soul already knows.

My job isn't to impress you with what I can do. It's to help you recognize what you can do. Whether we're working together in a class, a mentoring session, or a reading, I want you to leave with more confidence in yourself than you had when you arrived.

In fact, I tell my students all the time that I want to work myself out of a job. That probably sounds like terrible business advice, but it's true. I don't want you to feel like you need me every time you have a question, want to connect with Spirit, or find yourself second-guessing your intuition. I want to help you build enough confidence in yourself that one day, you won't need me anymore.

Well... unless you just want to hang out and be my friend.

Real spiritual teaching isn't about creating dependence. It's about giving people the confidence to trust themselves long after the class is over, the reading has ended, or the mentoring session is complete.

And if someone as analytical, skeptical, and left-brained as me could learn to do that, I truly believe you can too.
